Whenever I explain what our company does and these products do, I get a lot of tilted heads and questions about how they work. Most people have heard of a standard gun safe that uses either a key, combination dial, or a touch pad to gain access to the safe. One of the reasons that fingerprint or biometric technologies are so important to its users is because of the safety implications associated with biometrics. I have a smart phone and I have an access code that allows me to lock it down so my kids don't get into it and cause trouble. A month ago, my son was watching me get onto my phone while I wasn't paying attention. Afterwards he told me he knew my code. Luckily he was shooting straight with me and told me so could change it later. If that were my standard entry safe and he had gotten my code and accessed things like guns, that could get hairy fast.
The benefits of biometric gun safes and vaults are numerous. Several features of biometric safes include fire protection, solid steel construction, battery backups, multiple fingerprint profiles so that adults can access the safe while keeping unintended parties out. While most of our products cater to the pistol and handgun owners, we have a handful of safes that are capable of housing up to 24 rifles. Mostly I have mentioned the benefits of owning a safe in general terms, but the key benefit of biometric and fingerprint gun safes is the fact that there is no way possible to duplicate the safe owners thumb or finger print. We are incredibly excited about the fact that these products also allow you to access your items in the dark.
People don't know the exact time or moment that they will fall prey to home invasions or break-ins. This isn't something that you plan for, so if I needed to protect myself quickly, I wouldn't be very excited to have to get to my safe, turn the dial, or even punch in a code, especially if it is dark. If I was a burglar and I knew that a home owner was going to be able to draw a weapon quickly on me, I might think twice about causing trouble. Biometric gun safes give you peace of mind of easy access, which also makes it impossible for burglars or small children to access something that you want to keep safe.
One of the biggest obstacles with bringing this product line to the market is that people simply don't know what they are. With more awareness and better education on how to use these products, we will all be able to keep our kids and keepsakes safe, and the bad guys out.
